Charmeshia has her Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration and Leadership, and is certified in HACP and MNN-C. She has been serving the Houston community for 20 years as a nurse and by organizing and hosting health fairs, providing education and resources, and giving the gift of her time and talents.

Charmeshia was recently awarded the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 for her work in improving health equity and maternity care. Additionally, she has been awarded the Houston Methodist System Culture of Safety Award in 2020 and Houston Methodist Good Catch Award 2022.

Charmeshia’s passion for the community is evident in her efforts outside of work. She is the CEO of Journey to Freedom Ministries 501c3 nonprofit that partners with other organizations to provide mental health resources, health screenings and wellness activities to African American women nationwide. Additionally, she is a minister at The Church Without Walls where she can minister to Health and Wellness of 16,000 families by offering semiannual health screenings from University of St Thomas. She is an international author of 3 books focused on the emotional and spiritual health; Olivia’s Song Journey to Healing, Journey to Freedom, and Journey to Freedom Tween Edition. Charmeshia hosts a holistic women’s conference that addresses mental , emotional, spiritual , and social needs where Intimate Partner Violence national experts provide resources. She also hosts an annual community baby shower for income restricted moms to provide infant necessities like car seats, formula and diapers.

The State of Texas presented Charmeshia Allen with the Community Service Award September 2023 for her work to reduce health disparities among people of color by providing easy access to top healthcare professionals in the community. In May 2024 Houston Chronicle named Charm Allen a Top 15 nurse of Houston.
